Reflection Caleb's Story

The multimedia module caused me to think and become aware of other uses for using a PowerPoint. It wasn’t really hard to think of the various ways a PowerPoint could be used, but I had never stopped to think about how to incorporate it into my instruction. For this module, I have used the Language Experience Approach to create a language experience story as an example of one way PowerPoint can be used by students. Not only will students be using PowerPoint, but will use digital cameras, scanners, and even a microphone with their book. Students will learn how to insert clip art, pictures from the scanner, and sound effects. Students will also discover like I did what makes a quality presentation. The information given in our book made it clear that a quality presentation isn’t how many graphics and sounds you can put into a presentation, but the quality and the relevance of using the additional forms of media. I feel that the modules I have been doing have made me aware of how to use the information they give and then allow me to explore my own learning process. For me, this is the best way to learn. Through exploring ways to create a Language Experience Story through a PowerPoint, I was able to apply my unique learning experience to the story. I hope when integrating technology with my instruction I can make students aware of what we are doing and then allow them to explore and apply their unique learning experience.
